XSEED Games has officially pulled the plug on the planned Western release of the Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack for the Nintendo Switch. The company explained that the collection failed to meet the platform’s current guidelines for release, an issue that ultimately kills both the physical edition and the digital launch of several titles not yet available in the West. This announcement came shortly after the package went on sale in Japan.
In a public note to fans, the publisher acknowledged how much people were looking forward to the compilation and explained why it had to be canceled. The company stated that they were informed the content of several games in the Tetralogy Pack did not comply with current platform guidelines. XSEED added that because of this, they cannot release these games as intended and have therefore canceled the Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack physical release, as well as the digital versions of the previously unreleased games included in the collection. The message closed with an apology, saying, “We apologize for any confusion and disappointment this may have caused.”
The Tetralogy Pack combines four visual novel games that tell the entire story of Heavenly Host, a horror saga about a group of students who get stuck in a cursed school. The bundle features the updated Corpse Party from 2021, its direct follow-up Corpse Party Book of Shadows, the comedic spin-off Corpse Party Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash, and Corpse Party Blood Drive. While the compilation released in Japan on August 7, 2025, the Western version will not move forward because of the guidelines issue.
XSEED also confirmed it is still working closely with MAGES., saying it still plans to bring future entries to audiences overseas. The publisher mentioned that it “remains committed to working with our partners at MAGES., to bring Corpse Party II Darkness Distortion to the West,” adding that more information will be shared when possible. While this recent turn of events has messed up the release schedule, the company ended by stressing its gratitude for the community’s support of both XSEED Games and the long-running Corpse Party series.
