New Like A Dragon Game Possibly Set For Reveal At TGS 2024

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are set to reveal a brand new Like a Dragon title at TGS 2024, based on the latest rumor.

According to a new A9VG post (via) by known Chinese insider Diandong Langke Lu Xun, a brand new Like a Dragon title may be set for an announcement at TGS 2024. The thread is titled, “No Change in Hairstyle This Year. See You at TGS!”, the post text states, “Code Phrase: I am Crazy Vegeta”, and the accompanied image dimensions (919×920) indicate the date September 19/20. The binary code on the image (110001011100000110) converts to the decimal number 202502, which indicates the month of February, 2025.

Going by the tattoo of a dragon on the image, the insider is likely referring to a new Like a Dragon-related announcement, as RGG Summit 2024 is also set to happen on September 20, 2024. The September 19, 2024 date suggests a reveal at a possible State of Play ahead of a potential deep dive at RGG Summit 2024 on September 20, 2024. The thread title may be referring to no change in hairstyle for one of the Yakuza series protagonists, Kazuma Kiryu, in the upcoming Like a Dragon title. He had previously received a new hairstyle in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Regarding the aforementioned State of Play from Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jeff Grubb had recently mentioned that he had heard about the presentation taking place during the last week of September, 2024. It’s likely that the presentation got scheduled to happen a little early on September 19, 2024. Only time will tell for sure, however.

In related news, the trademark for Yakuza Wars was filed by Sega on July 26, 2024, and published last month on August 5, 2024. At this point, there’s hardly any information available on the game. As such, it’s hard to say whether it will be a brand new entry, a spin-off, or a “Kiwami” remake.
