IO Interactive has delayed the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light to March 2027, with an exact release date still to be announced. The additional development time will be used to polish the game’s performance on Nintendo’s new hybrid console.
The developer announced the delay through the game’s official account, saying, “To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later.” IO Interactive also thanked fans for their patience and continued support.
The studio said it was encouraged by the positive reception to 007 First Light at gamescom. The same demo will also be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week, giving attendees an opportunity to experience the game ahead of its eventual release on Nintendo Switch 2.
007 First Light is a third person action adventure stealth game developed by IO Interactive using its proprietary Glacier Engine. The title presents an original origin story for James Bond, combining espionage missions, combat, stealth gameplay and large environments.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version has required additional development work to optimize the game for the platform’s hardware. IO Interactive will provide the new release date at a later time.
