Blizzard has officially revealed the performance and resolution options for Diablo IV on Nintendo Switch 2. The Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection will offer players a choice between Quality and Performance modes, with the game targeting up to 40 FPS.
In Quality Mode, Diablo IV runs at 30 FPS at 1080p in handheld mode, while docked mode increases the resolution to 1440p at the same 30 FPS target. Performance Mode targets 40 FPS at 1080p in both handheld and docked configurations. Blizzard notes that docked Performance Mode requires a compatible display with a refresh rate of at least 120Hz.
The Switch 2 version will also support several platform-specific features. Players can use the touchscreen to navigate most menus, the map and inventory, while compatible mice and keyboards can be connected through USB. Controller rumble, accessibility features and Nintendo Switch 2’s system-level GameChat functionality are also supported. Joy-Con 2 mouse functionality is not supported.
Diablo IV will support cross-progression, allowing players to continue their progress across supported platforms without requiring a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Cross-play is also available, although an active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to play with users on other platforms.
Players without Nintendo Switch Online can still access the campaign, side quests, open-world activities, couch co-op, The Tower, leaderboards, seasonal ranks and seasonal content. However, online parties, trading, Clans, PvP and encounters with other players in the open world require the subscription. An internet connection remains necessary to play Diablo IV.
Blizzard also confirmed that cosmetics and Reliquary Battle Pass purchases and rewards will carry over between linked platforms. Platinum earned through gameplay will also transfer, but Platinum purchased directly on Nintendo Switch 2 will remain exclusive to that platform.
