Alan Wake 2 has surpassed 3 million lifetime sales, Remedy Entertainment confirmed as the company reported its financial results for the first half of 2026. The milestone highlights the continued commercial performance of the game, which remains a source of royalty revenue more than two years after its original release.
Remedy generated EUR 23.3 million in revenue during the first half of 2026, down 23.1% from EUR 30.3 million during the same period in 2025. EBITDA declined from EUR 6.8 million to EUR 0.5 million, while the company moved from an operating profit of EUR 0.8 million to an operating loss of EUR 2.9 million.
Despite the weaker overall results, Alan Wake 2 continued to contribute financially. Remedy said its royalties from the game during the second quarter came entirely from consumer sales, with no platform deal accruals involved. Alan Wake Remastered also continued to generate royalty revenue.
Control also delivered positive results during the period, with Remedy reporting sales growth compared with the same quarter a year earlier. Interest in the original game has increased alongside the marketing campaign for CONTROL Resonant, which Remedy considers an important entry point for players discovering the franchise.
CONTROL Resonant is scheduled to launch on September 24, 2026. The game had accumulated more than 1.5 million wishlists across platforms as of August 11, with Remedy also reporting healthy pre-order momentum.
The company’s financial results were affected by increased spending ahead of CONTROL Resonant’s launch. Marketing activity increased during the quarter, contributing to higher operating expenses and weaker profitability.
Meanwhile, Max Payne 1&2 Remake and CONTROL Resonant remained important sources of development-fee revenue. Remedy generated EUR 14.5 million in development fees during H1 2026, compared with EUR 18.1 million during the same period last year.
Remedy’s revenue decline was also partly influenced by the comparison with the second quarter of 2025, when FBC: Firebreak had launched and the company recognised initial revenue from subscription service agreements.
The company has maintained its 2026 outlook and expects full-year revenue and EBITDA to increase compared with 2025. With Alan Wake 2 continuing to generate royalties, Control showing renewed sales momentum and CONTROL Resonant approaching launch, Remedy’s current financial position reflects a business investing heavily ahead of its next major release while continuing to benefit from its established franchises.
