Crash Bandicoot 4 won’t be out until March 12 on the Nintendo Switch but this hasn’t stopped someone from getting an early copy.
While the game is already available on PS4 and Xbox One, it was recently confirmed for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, in addition to the Nintendo Switch. The game won’t be out until March 11, 2021, on the Switch but one reddit user has managed to snag an early copy and has shared a bunch of screenshots directly from the game.
If you wanted to see how the game plays and looks on the Nintendo Switch, these screenshots are a good indication. Note: The bottom screenshot is TV mode and the top is the portable mode.
Just like the Switch version, Activision is also releasing a PS5 and Xbox Series version that will be available on March 12. This runs at native 4k at 60 FPS on the new generation consoles.
As for the Nintendo Switch, it is apparently rendering at a 720p resolution while targeting 30 FPS, so this is a lower experience overall. In docked mode, the resolution could drop below 720p which is also evident in the comparison between the TV and Portable mode.
According to the Nintendo eShop, the file size of Crash Bandicoot 4 on the Nintendo Switch is roughly 9.4 GB, which is not a lot when compared to the PS4 and Xbox One version, which reportedly had a file size of 30 GB at launch. That could change with post-launch updates for the Nintendo Switch. Interesting, the box art lists Activision Shangai Studios and Beenox, which could have helped with this port.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X on March 12. We will be able to share an update on the PS4 and PS5 or the Xbox One and Xbox Series versions with a comparison once they are officially out.
