GTA 4 has been updated on Xbox One again but this time the intention was to remove the old soundtrack that was patched in again, which turned out to be a mistake.
As we have covered earlier this week, Xbox One users received an update for GTA IV that appears to have added back the deleted songs from the old soundtrack. These songs were deleted after the license for them expired on the 10th anniversary of the game. This happened with an update that was released on April 2018.

After a new mysterious update was found to be live on the Xbox One, it led to the theory that Rockstar Games had managed to get the license back for the old songs that were removed and they were patched back into the game. However, this could be a mistake from the backward compatibility team at Microsoft since this patch had nothing to do with Rockstar Games.
The same fan account which discovered the music has now confirmed that it has been taken out again after a new patch was deployed on August 21. This has been a rollercoaster ride for those who were hoping that Rockstar Games manages to keep the old soundtrack intact in GTA 4. One way to avoid it is to keep the game unpatched and avoid installing any updates to it, but that might lead to many issues because these updates also fix potential bugs.
