NBA 2K22 is out now for last and current-generation consoles in addition to the Nintendo Switch. Is the game worth the upgrade to the PS5?
NBA 2K22 is slightly more expensive on the PS5. You also need to find Sony’s latest console first, which still seems to be out of stock pretty much everywhere. So is the game worth the upgrade or you can just enjoy the PS4 version?
Based on the comparison video, we have to say that the difference is definitely massive enough to warrant an upgrade. You can argue that the visuals have been improved, but we also know that the gameplay changes between both versions are also important. The new mechanics and skills are fluid on the PS5.
The game runs at 60 FPS on PS4 and PS5, while it drops down to 30 on the Nintendo Switch. Based on this alone, the inferior Nintendo Switch version is definitely not recommended even for the sake of portability. It lacks gameplay improvements and has a lower performance profile compared to the other consoles.
In the case of the PS5, NBA 2K22 has made some dramatic changes to the gameplay improving the overall flow of a match. It helps the current-generation version stand out against its predecessors. If you want the definitive way to experience the yearly iteration of NBA 2K22 then PS5 or Xbox Series is the way to go, but in the case of Xbox consoles, there is a major issue with the game crashing on it.
