Bandai Namco Entertainment and From Software’s Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is now available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.
The game offers 2 graphical modes on PS5 and Xbox Series i.e. Quality and Performance. The Quality mode enables ray tracing in the Garage, while the Performance mode has it disabled. On PC, it is possible to run Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon at higher graphical settings and get a better visual experience over the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
In terms of resolution, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions run at a resolution of 4K (2160p) in Quality mode, while the Xbox Series S version runs at 1440p. Meanwhile, in Performance mode, the game runs at a dynamic resolution on all three consoles, with 4K (2160p) being the maximum resolution on PS5 and Xbox Series X and 1440p being the maximum resolution on Xbox Series S.
With regards to performance, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions target a frame rate of 60 fps in both Quality mode and Performance modes. In Quality mode, the game generally hovers in the range of 30 and 40 fps on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. In Performance mode, however, both versions do a better job of achieving the target frame rate, though there are occasional drops into the 50s and even 40s. The Xbox Series S version doesn’t do a good job of delivering a stable 60 fps in either Quality or Performance mode, though, as one would expect, the latter fares better.
In terms of load times, all versions load into the game roughly around the same time, though the Xbox Series S and PC versions load the fastest by a small fraction of a section.
On the whole, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon in Performance mode deliver the best possible experience on console, while the Xbox Series S version comes as a disappointment.
