The resolution and frame rate for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Mundfish’s Atomic Heart have been revealed.
The official Twitter account for Atomic Heart has revealed the resolution and frame rate for the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X. It does not appear to feature different graphics modes, instead targeting a resolution of 4K and a frame rate of 60 fps on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. There is a minor caveat, however.
According to developer Mundfish, Atomic Heart operates at a stable frame rate of 60 fps while maintaining a resolution of 4K inside of dungeons on both current-gen platforms. However, upon exiting the dungeon area and entering the open world, a dynamic resolution is engaged, which targets and mostly hits a resolution of 4K while maintaining a stable frame rate 60 fps. This is the first we’ve heard of specifics regarding the technical aspects of the console versions. Footage seen from the game thus far is known to be running on PC.
The developer did not provide specifics regarding the Xbox Series S version, though it’s safe to say that it also runs at a frame rate of 60 fps, while targeting a lower resolution (possibly 1440p).
Previously, 14 minutes of brand new gameplay footage from Atomic Heart had been leaked, and a comparison with earlier builds revealed improved visuals. The 14 minutes of footage from the game was shared on YouTube, but had since been removed due to a copyright claim by developer MundFish. The new screenshots showed the addition of new detail as well as reflections, which were not present in the game’s earlier build from 2019.
Atomic Heart is an upcoming FPS action role-playing video game developed by Mundfish and published by Focus Entertainment and 4Divinity. The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on February 21, 2023.
