Focus Entertainment and Don’t Nod’s action role-playing game, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.
The game offers 2 graphical modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X i.e. Quality and Performance, while there is only one mode available on Xbox Series S. In terms of graphical settings, there isn’t much to distinguish between the Quality and Performance modes. On PC, it is possible to run Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden at higher graphical settings and get a better visual experience over the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
In terms of image quality, the PS5 and Xbox Series X run Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden at a dynamic resolution that targets 4K (2160p) in Quality mode and 1440p in Performance mode. The only mode available on the Xbox Series S also runs at a dynamic resolution that targets 1080p. Meanwhile, it’s possible to run the game at native 4K on PC and get better image quality compared to the consoles.
With regards to performance, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden target a frame rate of 30 fps in Quality mode. The game generally does a good job of sticking to this target. Performance mode targets a frame rate of 60 fps on both consoles. the frame rate can drop in both versions, though it does do a noticeably better job of maintaining the target on Xbox Series X. The PS5 version can often dip into the lower 50s, and all the way down to the 30s during stressful instances. During the same stressful areas, the Xbox Series X version commands around a 10 fps lead over the PS5 version.Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version targets and mostly delivers a frame rate of 30 fps. The PC version, on the other hand, is able to run above 60 fps on capable systems.
All in all, the PC version of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden delivers the best possible experience, while the Xbox Series X version delivers the best possible console experience.
