Battlefield 6 Glitch Gives Standard Edition Players Phantom Edition Skins for Free

Electronic Arts is investigating a new issue affecting Battlefield 6 players following the release of Update 1.0.1.6 earlier today. According to widespread reports, some Standard Edition owners have unexpectedly received the exclusive Phantom Edition skins—cosmetic items normally reserved for premium purchasers—free of charge.

The issue first came to light after EA’s official support page published a notice addressing missing Phantom Edition rewards. The post instructed players who owned the upgrade to locate their content in the Loadouts tab and follow a troubleshooting guide if the items were not appearing. However, soon after the update went live, players without the Phantom Edition upgrade discovered that the exclusive skins had appeared in their inventories.

“Missing your Phantom Edition rewards in Battlefield 6? You’ll find all your rewards in the Loadouts tab. If they’re not there, check out our quick fix guide before contacting us,” the official EA Help page read earlier today.

Reports quickly surfaced across social media and community forums showing screenshots of Standard Edition players accessing the restricted cosmetics. Responding to these claims, EA’s community manager EA_Pulsar issued a statement acknowledging the situation.

“Thanks so much for flagging this! We’re looking into reports of Phantom Edition items appearing unlocked—please hold off on equipping them,” the post stated. “We really appreciate your patience and your support.”

The glitch appears to have coincided with Battlefield 6 Update 1.0.1.6, a minor quality-of-life patch released this morning. While the update was primarily focused on backend performance and stability improvements, it seems to have inadvertently affected the game’s cosmetic inventory systems.

According to EA, Update 1.0.1.6 lays the groundwork for the game’s upcoming Season 1 launch, providing enhancements to matchmaking, server infrastructure, and backend synchronization. Although the patch did not introduce new gameplay features, developers reiterated their commitment to long-term live service updates that respond to community feedback and telemetry data.

The Battlefield team also refreshed its list of known issues still present in the current build (1.0.1.0), which include bugs affecting party connectivity, weapon handling, vehicle systems, and the user interface. These issues remain under investigation as part of the ongoing post-launch support plan.

For now, EA is advising affected players not to equip or modify any Phantom Edition items until the issue is resolved. The company has not yet confirmed whether users who received the cosmetics in error will retain them once the fix is implemented.

Battlefield 6 launched worldwide on October 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The title’s next major content update, Season 1, is expected to arrive in the coming weeks, bringing the first wave of post-launch missions, rewards, and balance updates.
