Black Ops 2 Update 01.008.000 Appears On PlayStation Backend

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 update 01.008.000 has been added to the PlayStation backend, suggesting that another update for the recently released PS4 and PS5 ports is currently in development.

The update was spotted by PlayStation Game Size, which noted that the new version has been added to the backend but has not yet gone live. There are also currently no patch notes available, meaning it is unclear what changes Activision and developer Iron Galaxy are preparing.

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 launched on PS4 and PS5 on July 9, 2026, with ports developed by Iron Galaxy. Both games include their original campaigns, multiplayer and Zombies modes, although the releases are ports rather than full remasters.

The games run at 1080p and 60fps on both PlayStation consoles. Since launch, Activision has released several updates addressing technical issues and community feedback.

Black Ops 2 received an update on July 17 that focused on prioritising PS5 hosts, improving protection against host migration exploits and making adjustments to controller deadzones.

The upcoming 01.008.000 update could introduce further fixes, although its contents remain unknown until Activision publishes official patch notes. For now, the update is only present in the PlayStation backend and has not been released to players.
