Black Ops Cold War Glitch Is Disconnecting PS4 Controllers, Here’s How To Fix It
Black Ops Cold War suffers from a major glitch that can render the game unplayable as the controller is disconnected. Here’s a temporary fix for this issue.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available from today on both PS4 and PS5. It appears that the developers haven’t learned from the early beta test as one of the major bugs remains in the final version of the game. This bug can manifest in both the single-player campaign and the multiplayer. It leads to the controller losing sync with the console and disconnecting in the middle of the gameplay, which can be incredibly annoying.
There are multiple reports of this issue happening for various users posted on reddit, Twitter, and other social media. See a video of this glitch in action below courtesy of reddit.
Ummm anyone else having their controllers disconnect. I was playing fractured jaw campaign and we were in the helicopter and my ADS went straight up locked there and emptied all my rounds. I looked and my controllers are blinking blue I tried to plug in and I tried reset with button and nothing from blackopscoldwar
Most reports for this issue appear to suggest that it happens during the beginning of the third mission in the main campaign. There are also reports suggesting that this glitch can manifest itself during the multiplayer or Zombies mode as well.
This issue is mainly being reported for users that are playing the game on a PS4 or PS4 Pro. Fortunately, there is an easy fix too that can help solve this problem until an upcoming update fixes it for everyone.
How To Fix Controller Disconnecting Issue in Black Ops Cold War
- Go to Settings > Devices
- Select Controllers
- Change your Communication Method to USB.
Afterward, you just need to use a USB to connect to your PS4 and the controller should work with the game without any issues. While this is a minor annoyance, there is nothing much to do aside from using this temporary fix until an official patch is released later down the line.
