Capcom’s First-Half Profit Jumps 54.5% as Full-Year Forecast Remains Unchanged

Capcom’s operating profit increased 54.5% to ¥60.8 billion in the first half of fiscal 2026, as the company’s games business drove strong growth across its financial results. For the six months ended September 30, 2026, net sales rose 49% year on year to ¥120.9 billion, while profit attributable to owners of the parent climbed 56.6% to ¥43.1 billion.

Earnings per share increased from ¥65.78 to ¥102.99. Ordinary profit grew 67.5% to ¥61.2 billion, partly reflecting a sharp reduction in Osaka Expo-related expenses. Those costs fell from ¥2.44 billion in the previous year’s first half to just ¥19 million in the latest period.

Capcom’s Digital Contents division, which includes its games business, accounted for much of the growth. The segment generated ¥85.1 billion in sales, up 70.8%, and operating profit increased 66.7% to ¥52.3 billion. It contributed around 70% of the company’s total sales during the period.

Arcade Operations also recorded growth, with sales rising 26.2% to ¥15.7 billion. The business now operates 63 stores. Meanwhile, the Amusement Equipments segment, which covers pachislo machines, increased sales by 8.9% to ¥16.5 billion following the release of three new smart pachislo models.

The Other segment was the only division to report a decline. Sales, which include media and character licensing activities, fell 4.7% to ¥3.5 billion.

Despite the strong first-half performance, Capcom has kept its full-year forecast unchanged for the fiscal year ending March 2027. The company still expects net sales of ¥210 billion, operating profit of ¥83 billion and net profit of ¥58 billion.

The first half has already delivered approximately 58% of the annual sales target, 73% of the operating profit forecast and 74% of the net profit target. Meeting the full-year guidance would therefore require around ¥89.1 billion in sales and ¥22.2 billion in operating profit during the second half. Capcom says it remains on track to meet its targets, although its financial update does not explain why the full-year forecast remains unchanged despite the results so far.

The company’s balance sheet also improved. Its equity ratio increased from 78.8% to 81.8%, while operating cash flow rose from ¥4.5 billion to ¥36.8 billion. Cash and deposits stood at ¥151.6 billion.

Capcom declared an interim dividend of ¥23 per share, up from ¥20 in the previous year. Its full-year dividend forecast remains ¥46 per share, compared with ¥45 for the previous fiscal year.

The company attributed its performance to new releases boosting sales of existing games, creating what it described as a virtuous cycle that supports earnings. Capcom’s live-action Street Fighter film was released worldwide on October 16, 2026, although the financial update does not provide figures showing its commercial performance.
