Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that digital pre-orders for Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters are now available on Nintendo Switch, giving fans another chance to prepare for the anime football sequel’s launch later this summer.
The publisher confirmed that Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters will release on August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Based on the popular manga and anime franchise, the sequel follows Tsubasa Ozora as he represents Japan on the international stage. Players will guide the national team through its campaign to qualify for and compete in the prestigious World Youth Championship, facing some of the strongest teams in world football along the way.
The game features more than 110 playable characters and 22 national teams, including countries such as Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, and Mexico. Matches are built around a blend of strategy, technical skill, and the exaggerated anime-style action that has become synonymous with the series.
Bandai Namco says the sequel significantly expands upon the franchise’s signature Super Action Soccer gameplay. Players can chain together spectacular moves while passing, dribbling, tackling, and defending, with each character capable of unleashing signature special techniques inspired by the source material.
One of the major gameplay additions is a new goalkeeping system that creates direct battles between shooters and goalkeepers. Rather than simply watching special shots play out, players will be able to counter and respond to powerful attacks, creating more tactical encounters when defending the net.
The sequel also brings back composer Tadayoshi Makino, who worked on the previous Captain Tsubasa game. For the new title, he has created more than 80 new background music tracks to accompany the on-field action.
With pre-orders now available on Nintendo Switch, fans can secure their copy ahead of the game’s launch on August 28, when Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters arrives across consoles and PC.
