CD Projekt Explains Why Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion Is Exclusive To Next-Gen Consoles
CD Projekt has revealed why it decided to keep the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, titled Phantom Liberty, exclusive to next-gen consoles and PC.
During its half-year call for the year 2022, CD Projekt announced that the Cyberpunk 2077 was kept exclusive to next-gen consoles and PC in order to provide the best possible experience and great new features.
Moving forward, the company decided to focus its attention and resources on the next-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 so that it could further develop and upgrade the game on PC, Stadia, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That said, the game will continue to operate on previous-gen consoles, and CD Projekt will keep providing technical support.
Phantom Liberty will be the only major expansion that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive, CD Projekt confirmed. The development team is looking to take advantage of the capabilities of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That said, the company is committed to developing the Cyberpunk IP beyond the Phantom Liberty expansion.
According to CD Projekt, the company has invested a lot of time and effort into building the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise, and it will, therefore, look forward to building on top of what is there right now. This includes new stories, new experiences, and other new content, and it won’t just be limited to the interactive medium, as we’ve already seen with Edgerunners.
Action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 was developed and published by CD Projekt on PlayStation 4, Stadia, Windows, and Xbox One on 10 December, 2020, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 15 February 2022. The story is set in Night City, a fictional city based in the United States of America. Players assume the role of a mercenary named V who can fight in a number of ways, including options for melee and ranged combat. They can also use stealth and hacking to their advantage during combat and exploration.
