Sega has officially revealed Crazy Taxi: World Tour, marking the return of the long-running arcade driving franchise with a brand-new adventure set to launch in 2027.
The announcement was made during the Xbox Games Showcase, where Sega debuted the first trailer for the project and confirmed releases for Xbox Series X|S and PC through Xbox Play Anywhere. The game is also planned for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
According to Sega, players will follow series protagonist Axel on a globe-spanning journey after a group of mysterious masked villains steals his beloved taxi. The publisher described the game as a high-energy adventure featuring extreme missions, fast-paced driving, and the franchise’s trademark focus on earning “crazy money.”
“It’s time for crazy driving, crazy adventure, and crazy money! Crazy Taxi is back and going global!” Sega said in its announcement.
The newly revealed title represents a significant evolution for the franchise. Developed by Sega’s Sapporo Studio and led by original Crazy Taxi producer Kenji Kanno, Crazy Taxi: World Tour expands the series beyond its traditional arcade structure into a large-scale open-world experience.
While the publisher has yet to announce a specific release date, Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. More details are expected to be revealed as development continues.
