Crimson Desert Update 1.06 Adds Special Mounts and Extraction System

Crimson Desert update 1.06 introduces several major gameplay systems, including Special Mounts and a new Extraction feature that allows players to recover materials used in equipment refinement. The patch also expands customization options with sword sheaths, a Display Sheath toggle, and the new Night Tone Mode visual setting.

Alongside these additions, the update delivers broad improvements to combat, controls, UI, and stability. Numerous gameplay bugs, quest issues, and combat inconsistencies have also been resolved, alongside enhancements to mounts, fishing, and world interactions.

Special Mounts

  • Added Special Mount system
    • Certain animals can now become mounts after gaining trust
    • Supported animals include bears, wolves, deer, camels, lions, tigers, and more
  • Added Special Mount inventory tab
  • Saddles now separately equipable on Special Mounts
  • Saddles available from regional saddleries

Extraction System

  • Added Extraction feature at smithies
    • Allows recovery of materials used in refinement
    • Equipment refinement level can be reduced without destroying the item
    • Special materials recover at 100 percent
    • Common materials recover at approximately 70 percent

Combat and Customization

  • Added new unarmed combat skills for Oongka
  • Added sword sheaths
  • Added Display Sheath toggle option
  • Added Sigil of Valor item
    • Allows pet dogs to attack enemies

Activities and Rewards

  • Added claw machine activity at the Laughing Marionette
    • Includes lighting items, headgear, Abyss Artifacts, and Abyss Gear rewards

Gameplay Improvements

  • Improved enhancement support for select equipment types
  • Added sockets to more equipment
  • Improved pet summoning reliability
  • Added inventory shortcuts including Clean All, Butcher All, and Obtain All Seeds
  • Improved item stacking for furniture and ornaments
  • Increased selling prices for fish
  • Increased Abyss Gear Blueprint drop chances at certain strongholds

Combat Improvements

  • Improved unarmed combat stance and animations
  • Adjusted two handed cannon attack power and effects
  • Improved ranged targeting against small animals
  • Fixed multiple combat skill issues affecting Oongka and Damiane
  • Fixed bosses taking unintended excessive damage
  • Improved boss combat area behavior and recovery systems

Controls and Traversal

  • Improved bookshelf object placement during housing customization
  • Improved climbing interactions and camera adjustments
  • Added failure animation for large valve interactions

UI Improvements

  • Added skill search function
  • Improved fishing guides and research institute UI
  • Fixed UI freezing in customized control presets
  • Improved Character Customization and Dye menus

Graphics and Settings

  • Added Night Tone Mode
    • Softer lighting and brighter shadows when enabled
  • Improved HDR support and rendering on Mac
  • Fixed rendering issues at ultrawide resolutions
  • Fixed HDR and Frame Generation related crashes
  • Improved waterfall visuals and environmental effects

Crimson Desert, developed and published by Pearl Abyss, released on March 19, 2026. It is available on PC, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
