Devil May Cry 5 Gets Mature Rating By ESRB, Sexual Content, Violence And Gore Detailed

ESRB has rated Devil May Cry 5 and given it a Mature rating, which is pretty much in line with the series. They have listed in-game purchases for it in the rating description, which can be anything from DLC to Microtransactions.

The complete ESRB rating description for Devil May Cry 5 highlights what kind of sexual content, violence, and gore are expected in the game. There are some story spoilers that can be related to cutscenes.

This is an action game in which players follow the story of three heroes (Dante, Nero, V) in their quest to save the world from demons. From a third-person perspective, players use swords, guns, and special attacks (e.g., a prosthetic hand with electric bursts) to kill hordes of demons in frenetic combat. Battles are highlighted by gunfire, screams of pain, and slow-motion finishing moves/highlights. One cutscene depicts civilians screaming in pain while being impaled by demon tentacles. Blood appears frequently during combat and stains several environments. Some female characters are depicted partially nude, with their breasts and buttocks minimally covered by blood, light, or clothing. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the dialogue.

Honestly, if you have played the past games in the series, there is no major surprise in the rating description. Violence, Gore and Partial Nudity is par the course for this series, although DmC: Devil May Cry did take it a bit too far.

You can look forward to playing Devil May Cry 5 once it hits the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 8th, 2019. The game is currently in development by Capcom and uses their RE Engine, which is also powering the upcoming Resident Evil 2 Remake.
