Bandai Namco says the Digimon franchise has reached its highest level of profitability in its history, with recent video game sales and the Digimon Card Game contributing to the milestone.
The update was shared by Gamestalk Japan, which cited comments from Bandai Namco Entertainment President Nao Udagawa during an interview with Weekly Famitsu.
According to Udagawa, the Digimon IP has achieved record profits, surpassing even the franchise’s commercial success during the original Digimon Adventure anime broadcast. He credited strong performance from digital game sales alongside continued growth of the Digimon Card Game.
One of the biggest contributors has been Digimon Story: Time Stranger, the latest entry in the Digimon Story role-playing series. Developed by Media.Vision and published by Bandai Namco, the game launched in 2025 across PC, consoles and Nintendo Switch, earning praise for its turn-based combat system and creature collection mechanics featuring more than 450 Digimon.
The comments underline the continued strength of the Digimon brand nearly three decades after its debut. In addition to video games, the franchise continues to expand through anime, manga and its trading card game, with Bandai Namco pointing to multiple areas of growth behind its record financial performance.
