Dune: Awakening Surpasses 1 Million New Survivors Following Console Launch

by Salal Awan

Dune: Awakening has welcomed 1 million new survivors since its console release, with Funcom celebrating the milestone as the open-world survival game expands to PS5 and Xbox.

The game’s official account shared the news and thanked players for joining the journey. “1 MILLION NEW SURVIVORS! Since the console release a new wave of survivors have made Arrakis their new home. From the team here at Funcom, thank you for being part of this journey!” the post reads.

Dune: Awakening is now available on PS5 and Xbox alongside its PC version. Funcom also reminded PC players that the game is currently 50% off on Steam through October 8.

Set on Arrakis, Dune: Awakening is a multiplayer survival game where players contend with extreme heat, limited water supplies and giant sandworms while building shelters, crafting equipment and competing for control of valuable spice harvesting areas. Players can also use vehicles such as ornithopters as they work their way from lone survivors toward positions of greater influence.

Funcom has planned long-term post-launch support for the game through free episodic updates that expand its story, add new points of interest and introduce changes to the open world. Optional paid DLC and expansions are also planned, including cosmetics, building blueprints and vehicles. Weekly Coriolis sandstorms can reshape unshielded areas of the outer desert, while ongoing updates address late-game PvP, combat and faction systems.
