The Coalition Says The Next Gears Of War Game Will Take Far Less Time To Make

The next Gears of War game will not take nearly as long to develop as Gears of War: E-Day, according to The Coalition studio head Mike Crump. Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Crump said E-Day will provide a “great foundation” for future games in the series.

“E-Day will provide a great foundation for future games in the series,” Crump said. “The next game will not take nearly as long” to make.

The comments come after a lengthy development period for Gears of War: E-Day, which reportedly spent around six years in development. Crump’s remarks suggest The Coalition expects the work done on the prequel to make future entries easier and faster to produce.

Crump also pointed to the experience within The Coalition as another factor. He said the studio has “a great team,” while noting that its leadership group has worked together for more than 20 years.

“So there’s definitely a continuity of knowledge and experience,” Crump added.

E-Day is a return to the beginning of the Gears of War story, focusing on the start of humanity’s war against the Locust and bringing Marcus Fenix back to the forefront. Crump’s comments suggest the studio has also approached the game with future installments in mind.
