Dying Light 2 is out on February 4 and ahead of the game’s launch, we have the first look at the resolution and frame rate on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Dying Light 2 is a massive open-world game from Techland. It is bound to have a lot of demand to make the game run even if it was technically a cross-generation release. The PC specs already paint a picture of a fairly demanding game and now we have our first look at the resolution and frame rate of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Based on the video made by Digital Foundry, it appears that the game sacrifices visual fidelity to run at 60 FPS. This means dropping the resolution down to 1080p on both Xbox Series X and PS5.
There are two display modes in Dying Ligh 2. One is the Quality mode that appears to run the game at 4K resolution but drops the frame rate to 30 FPS. In this case, the Xbox Series X has a higher resolution at 1900p compared to the 1800p for the PS5. The other is the Performance mode that bumps the frame rate to 60 FPS but drops the resolution down to 1080p.
So the question is, which version is better here? The answer depends on your platform of choice. There is nothing major that sets both consoles apart. You get a slightly better resolution on the Xbox Series X, and that’s it.
We don’t know about the performance of the last-generation consoles, but based on the figures here, it would be hard to see how the game could run at as high as 1080p at 30 FPS on the PS4 or Xbox One. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X might fare a little better.
Dying Light 2 will be available on February 4, 2022, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
