Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have announced that Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026.

The release date was confirmed through the official Elden Ring social media account, which stated, “Your journey to the Erdtree begins here. Rise, Tarnished. #ELDENRING Tarnished Edition is coming to #NintendoSwitch2 on August 28, 2026.”

Alongside the announcement, the company also revealed that the additional content included with the new edition will not remain exclusive to Nintendo’s platform. In a follow-up post, the official account confirmed, “The additional content included in #ELDENRING Tarnished Edition will also be available for purchase on other platforms. The Tarnished Pack DLC will launch on August 28, 2026.”

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition serves as a comprehensive package of FromSoftware’s acclaimed action RPG. The release includes the original Elden Ring alongside the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion while adding new content, including armor sets, weapons, and customization options for Torrent.

The announcement also resolves uncertainty surrounding the game’s launch date. Recent retailer listings had pointed to a July 10, 2026 release, but FromSoftware has now officially confirmed that players will be able to begin their adventure on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28.

Originally released in February 2022 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms, Elden Ring became one of the industry’s biggest commercial and critical successes. The game’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion followed in June 2024, expanding the experience with the Land of Shadow and a new storyline centered on Miquella.

The franchise has continued to achieve strong sales results. Elden Ring has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, while Shadow of the Erdtree has surpassed 10 million units sold since its release.
