Epic Games Store mystery game giveaway is officially making a return alongside the MEGA sale later this month in May, 2026.
The upcoming mystery game giveaway on the Epic Games Store begins on May 14, 2026, with the first two titles unlocking at 8 AM Pacific Standard Time / 11 AM Eastern Standard Time / 5 PM Central European Summer Time. While their identity is currently unknown, Epic Games has dropped clues in the form of color codes for the cover art of both games.

Fans have begun speculating about the identity of both games, with mentions of games like GOAT Simulator, Farming Simulator, Control, Mortal Kombat 1, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Atomic Heart, Chivalry 2, Subnautica, Sonic Frontiers, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, Mortal Shell, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Persona 5 Royal.
The offer goes live in two days, allowing users to add the titles to their libraries at no cost. They will remain available until May 21, 2026, after which the next mystery game will be revealed. While the setup follows the pattern of previous holiday promotions, Epic Games has not shared any details about the number of titles still to come.
Recently, Blood West publisher New Blood Interactive’s DaveOshry took to Twitter/X to share that the game being free on the Epic Games Store over the holidays led to a spike in sales by around 200% on Steam over the prior day. He mentioned that he used to think that Epic Games’ digital store was a “Marketing Black Hole”. However, it appears that a game being free on Epic Games Store can prove to be an indirect advertisement for Steam sales.
