Far Cry 5 has been updated just ahead of the launch of Far Cry 6. This surprise update 1.16 is mainly aimed at adding a trial mode to the game.
Far Cry 6 is going to continue the open-world shooter genre with a new entry set in the fictional location called Yara that is inspired by the Caribbean. It is ruled by a dictator, Antón Castillo, who will be motion and performance captured by Giancarlo Esposito. The game is set to launch in October.
While Far Cry 6 is not out for a while, Ubisoft had updated Far Cry 5 to version 1.16 today. This update was a big surprise for most fans because it was never confirmed before by Ubisoft.
Far Cry 5 Update 1.16 Patch Notes
- Trial mode is now available for events and promotions.
This is what the patch notes say for the game. We are not sure what this Trial mode even does in the game, but it does look like this will be used to market and promote the upcoming Far Cry 6.
So in a nutshell, nothing exciting has been added in this update. All this update enables is some marketing for the upcoming game. It would have been nice to have some sort of current-generation update but alas this is not the case. If you are playing the game on Xbox Series X, you can still benefit from the FPS Boost and run it at 60 FPS.
Far Cry 6 will be released on October 7, 2021, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
