NEXON has officially revealed FAREIDOLIA, the new anime-style game previously known as Project RX, with the first playable demo scheduled to debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Developed by the team behind Blue Archive, the game will be playable at the NEXON booth in Hall 7-C04 at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to 21.
FAREIDOLIA is being developed by NEXON’s IO division and is set in Anima City, a town located in a world that closely resembles Earth. Players take on the role of director of the Anima City Restoration Center while also managing Tasogare Hall, the centre’s office, and will work alongside characters known as Mates to resolve problems throughout the city.
The game is being developed with Unreal Engine 5 and combines an anime-inspired presentation with 3D environments, character interactions, lifestyle activities and dynamic battles. NEXON says the game is designed around the experience of discovering a familiar world while building relationships with its characters.
FAREIDOLIA’s cast includes several Mates with distinct personalities and abilities. Minieh is an enthusiastic explorer searching for the ultimate adventure and serves as a companion in uncovering Anima City’s secrets. Ohana has an enigmatic personality and considers herself a genius capable of excelling at almost anything, although she tends to use her abilities for mischief.
Shami is a cat-eared character who frequently struggles financially and spends much of her money on protective charms, despite also being a dedicated fan of idol shows. The mysterious Elevator Girl, meanwhile, operates the elevator at Tasogare Hall.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 will provide the first opportunity for the public to play FAREIDOLIA. NEXON’s booth will recreate Tasogare Hall, allowing visitors to experience an area inspired by the game’s setting while meeting the characters featured in the title.
The booth will include a hands-on demo as well as a rock-paper-scissors mini-game that lets visitors compete against one of the game’s characters. Attendees who participate can also receive several event-exclusive rewards.
Visitors to the booth will receive an A4 clear file, while those who complete the demo and social media missions can earn an original cooling towel and a 15cm pin badge. Players who add FAREIDOLIA’s official LINE account will also receive an original sticker.
FAREIDOLIA is planned for PC and mobile platforms, although NEXON has not yet announced a release date. The company says additional information about the game’s launch timing will be revealed at a later date.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 will take place at Makuhari Messe from September 17 through September 21. Public days are scheduled for September 19, September 20 and September 21, with FAREIDOLIA available at the NEXON booth in Hall 7-C04.
