The upcoming update for Square Enix’s action role-playing game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, will bring a fix for the bug that prevents players from getting the Platinum trophy.
The official Twitter/X account for the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy has acknowledged the presence of a bug in update version 1.020 for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that prevents players from acquiring the Platinum trophy, and has confirmed that fix is on the way.
The update, which was released on March 21, 2024, introduced a bug in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that prevented the side quest “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” in Chapter 12 from being completed. Square Enix apologized to fans for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
Fans who have had their trophy progress halted due to the issue will be relieved to know that the next update will put things back in order. The aforementioned side quest in Chapter 12 is also known as the Ultimate Party Animal’s Request. It requires players to challenge a certain NPC to various games throughout the Gold Saucer.
The bugged side quest becomes available at the Costa del Sol Community Noticeboard in the Corel Region upon completing the “Hightailing It” main quest, and also finishing all remaining Side Quests as well as all mini games at the Gold Saucer.
Besides introducing the aforementioned bug, update 1.020 for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth brought several key improvements, such as corrections to typos and missing text within the game. One major bug fix addressed an issue where the character being controlled would malfunction under specific conditions on the map, which could disrupt gameplay and player progression. Adjustments were also made to Red XIII’s abilities “Lunatic High” and “Warrior’s Cheer”, making them less likely to be canceled during battle. The update also resolved a bug where enemies would occasionally stop moving during battle under certain conditions, affecting the challenge and flow of combat.
