Final Fantasy XV Datamine Reveals Hidden Chapter 14 Scene That Was Cut

by Muhammad Ali Bari

A new datamine of game files from Square Enix’s action role-playing game, Final Fantasy XV, has revealed a cut scene from Chapter 14 that didn’t make it into the final release.

In the final chapter of the game, we see protagonist Noctis speaking with Bahamut before spending 10 years asleep within the crystal. When he finally awakens, being powerful enough to fulfill his destiny, he finds himself in the Angelgard prison. However, this wasn’t the developers’ original plan. YouTuber Luthus Nox Fleuret has shared a video of what appears to be a different version of the aforementioned scene from Chapter 14 of Final Fantasy XV that didn’t make the cut.

Final Fantasy XV Chapter 14 Cut Scene

The aforementioned cut scene from Chapter 14 of Final Fantasy XV can be seen below.

In the early version of the script, Noctis was physically imprisoned in Angelgard rather than being absorbed by the crystal. The story focused on him coming to terms with his situation and accepting his fate. The content creator managed to uncover this scrapped scene from the game’s files and even restore it, allowing us to see for the very first time how this sequence was originally envisioned

One interesting detail to note here is that, as mentioned above, instead of being absorbed by the crystal to gather its light for 10 years, Noctis spends that time absorbing the light of the moon in the scrapped scene. This raises questions about what happens to the crystal in this version, and how the events leading up to Noctis’s imprisonment differ. Unfortunately, these questions will remain unanswered unless someone from the development team sheds light on the original plans for Final Fantasy XV’s story.

It’s worth noting that this version of the story predates both the narrative we saw in Comrades and the direction the Dawn of the Future team ultimately pursued. Therefore, it’s best not to try and fit it into the final version of the game’s story, as it’s an entirely different concept from an earlier draft.
