Square Enix’s action role-playing game, Final Fantasy XVI, has become broken on PS5 following the console’s recent system software update.
Final Fantasy XVI players have reported that, after the recent PS5 system software update, they have started getting odd visual artifacts and game crashes that had not been occurring previously. It is the only known title that has resulted in the issue on the console after its firmware update. Other games appear to be safe, and it’s likely that a title update for Final Fantasy XVI would be required in order to fix it.
The aforementioned artifacts reported in Final Fantasy XVI on PS5 are described as visual blotches that appear on the screen during some cutscenes as well as action sequences. Players have reported that they are very intrusive, lasting a few minutes. In some extreme cases, certain assets fail to load and the game becomes entirely unplayable. The issue appears to widespread, and not limited to specific PS5 models.
Final Fantasy XVI players on PS5 are encouraged to report the issue to both PlayStation and Square Enix on social media and official channels.
