A new report has claimed that Australian actor Uli Latukefu will portray Ganondorf in Nintendo and Sony Pictures’ upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie.
The claim comes from New York Times journalist Kyle Buchanan, who shared the information on social media. He wrote, “The LEGEND OF ZELDA movie is months away and they’ve still haven’t announced any actors besides the two leads! So here’s a freebie: I’ve been hearing the iconic series villain Ganondorf is played by Australian actor Uli Latukefu, best known for the show ‘Young Rock’.”
If accurate, Latukefu would take on the role of one of Nintendo’s most recognisable villains. The actor is best known for portraying a younger version of Dwayne Johnson in the television series Young Rock.
Nintendo has so far officially confirmed only two lead cast members for the film, with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth playing Link and Bo Bragason portraying Princess Zelda. Dichen Lachman has also been revealed through set footage to be playing Impa, while Albert Latailakepa and Evelyn Towersey have been reported to appear as a Goron and Fado, respectively.
Directed by Wes Ball and produced by Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto alongside Avi Arad, the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is scheduled to release on April 30, 2027. Plot details remain under wraps, and Nintendo has not announced any additional major cast members beyond the film’s two leads.
As the reported casting has not been officially confirmed, it should be treated as a rumour until Nintendo or Sony Pictures makes a formal announcement.
