Rockstar Games has issued a statement addressing the recent GTA 6 leaks, acknowledging the impact the leaked gameplay footage has had on the development team. The studio also confirmed that an extended official look at Grand Theft Auto VI will be released tomorrow.
Rockstar said that seeing videos of GTA 6 gameplay appear online through leaks has been “heartbreaking” for the team, adding that this was not how the studio wanted players to first see the game after such a long wait. The developer also apologised for the amount of time it has taken to finish the game and begin sharing more official details and gameplay.
“We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow,” Rockstar said. The studio explained that preparing the footage took longer than expected, but stressed that it wants the presentation to meet the expectations of the community.
Rockstar also acknowledged that the leaks may have spoiled parts of the intended experience for some players. Despite this, the studio asked fans to wait until the game’s official release to experience it themselves, saying, “we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19.”
The developer thanked players who sent messages of support following the leaks, saying that the community’s response had meant a great deal to the team.
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version is expected at a later date.
The latest incident follows previous leaks involving the game, including the major 2022 security breach that exposed unfinished development footage. Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive have continued to take action against leaked material as development progresses.
