Details regarding the review embargo for Rockstar Games’ open-world action-adventure game, GTA VI, have been revealed.
Grand Theft Auto fans will soon be able to find out what critics have to say about the upcoming 6th mainline entry. The eagerly anticipated title puts players in the role of the criminal couple of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in a Bonnie and Clyde inspired story that takes them across Leonida’s open world, which features the Miami-inspired Vice City.
What Is the Review Embargo Date for GTA VI?
According to reliable insider Nate the Hate, the review embargo for Control Resonant is set to lift in a little over 3 weeks on November 18, 2026, a day ahead of the game’s release.
Additionally, the pre-load for GTA VI will be live for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 12, 2026, at midnight local time. It will come with the latest version pre-installed, though an update may be rolled out closer to the game’s launch.
Recently, Bloomberg investigative journalist Jason Schreier revealed that GTA VI features significantly narrower roads than its predecessor, GTA V. He learned this during his recent visit to Rockstar North’s Edinburgh studio and interviews with several senior developers involved in the production of the highly anticipated title. Aaron Garbut, the art director and one of the heads of development on GTA VI, told him that the decision to make roads narrower and traffic denser was made early during development.
Unlike the sprawling streets in GTA V, which allow players to speed through traffic with relative ease, the upcoming entry aims to deliver a more realistic urban driving experience. Schreier noted that the latter’s wide roads often make driving feel more like a racing game than navigating a real city. GTA VI’s narrower streets and heavier traffic, meanwhile, aims to make traveling through its fictional version of Miami more challenging and immersive.
GTA VI is set for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
