Bandai Namco has officially unveiled Gundam Rogue Orbit, a new action title set within an original timeline in the long-running Gundam franchise. The game was revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2026 livestream and is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, the upcoming title introduces an entirely new chapter in the Gundam universe. Rather than revisiting existing storylines, Gundam Rogue Orbit tells a standalone story centered on humanity’s struggle against a mysterious threat. The new setting is intended to offer a fresh starting point for newcomers while expanding the franchise with a new narrative for longtime fans.
Players will take control of RE-X, an ace pilot who serves as the protagonist of the story. Throughout the campaign, RE-X pilots the Gundam Helix, a highly mobile combat suit designed for fast-paced battles. Alongside a group of unlikely allies, the pilot must confront overwhelming odds as humanity fights for survival against an unknown enemy force.
According to Bandai Namco, combat will focus on high-speed action across large-scale environments. Players can expect to engage waves of enemies, battle towering bosses, and overcome increasingly difficult encounters. The game’s reveal trailer highlighted a mix of cinematic storytelling and large-scale mech combat, emphasizing mobility and explosive action sequences.
The publisher describes Gundam Rogue Orbit as both a new direction for the series and a celebration of the elements that have helped make Gundam one of the most recognizable science fiction franchises in entertainment. While details remain limited for now, the game aims to blend dramatic storytelling with intense mecha warfare in a completely new setting.
Bandai Namco said additional information on Gundam Rogue Orbit will be shared in the months ahead as development continues toward its planned 2027 release.
