Remakes of the campaigns featured in Xbox Game Studios’ first-person shooters, Halo 2 and Halo 3, are currently in development, according to a new rumor.
Known Halo leaker leaks_infinite took to Twitter/X to share that full-fledged campaign remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 are currently in development, and that, unlike in the original games, both new versions will feature the ability to sprint. For those disappointed by the lack of multiplayer, the insider claims that it will be featured in Halo 7.

The leaker mentioned that there is currently no estimated launch window for the announcement of both remakes. According to them, the source that informed them about the original Halo remake it’s mechanics also told them that Halo 2 and 3 remakes are in development. They speculated that it’s possible Halo Studios is using Halo Campaign Evolved to judge whether new versions of Halo 2 and 3 would be viable.
Furthermore, the insider said that while Halo 7 will be the Multiplayer experience for all these remakes, it will still feature it’s own Campaign, which will be the sequel to Halo Infinite. However, based on what they’ve heard from their sources, the Halo 7 campaign and multiplayer won’t be launching simultaneously, as was the case with Halo Infinite. As for the game’s release window, they mentioned that old sources told them it would be released sometime during 2025 and 2026, though that could’ve changed overtime. They were under the impression Halo 7 would been announced alongside the Halo Remake, but that didn’t happen.
According to the leaker, Halo Studios wants everyone to play Halo 7’s multiplayer mode rather than creating separate multiplayer experiences that would compete against each other and segregate the player base. They mentioned that this is major factor in the decision to not remake multiplayer modes for the Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3 remakes, especially because all these games will be launching on PlayStation.
