Helldivers 2 Has A Rough Start On Steam, PC Version Suffering From Issues

Helldivers 2 is out now for PC and PS5. The PC version of the game currently has some issues leading to mixed reviews on the Steam Store.

While the first Helldivers was a little less ambitious in scope with a top-down view, it was still a fun game. The sequel has expanded a lot with a new third-person view and focus on offline and online multiplayer. It appears that the game was just not ready for same-day and date launch on PS5 and PC, as the PC version is suffering from issues.

There are multiple complaints on the Steam forums for the game ranging from issues with the game crashing to the desktop, Quickplay mode not working for some, and online co-op being broken at launch. It is also leading to some of the players refunding the game.

Some players also dislike the anti-cheat implementation in the game which has led to some restrictions. While this might be necessary to reduce cheaters, it can be a problem when running it on hardware like the Steam Deck.

This is the launch day of the game so some of the issues may be resolved over time as has happened with other games. This has affected the reception as well since the reviews for the PC version on Steam are Mixed right now and on the verge of heading into Negative territory at just 52%.

Steam charts show that the game is a massive success with more than 64K players online at launch. It was also one of the best-selling games on Steam as well as the PlayStation Store this week. While the sales might be good, the developers have to provide a solution to the issues that have been reported so far, otherwise, the sales might drop if the game is not fixed.

Helldivers 2 was developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by PlayStation. The game is available for PC and PS5 and can be purchased for $39.99.
