Helldivers 2 update 6.2.2 introduces new biomes, enemy changes, and major balance updates

Helldivers 2 update 6.2.2, titled Machinery of Oppression, delivers a mix of new content and sweeping balance adjustments. The update introduces two new biomes, a fresh enemy variant, and a significant rework of Exo suits, making them more durable while refining how they function in combat.

Beyond content additions, the patch makes extensive adjustments to weapons, enemies, and stratagems, alongside a large number of bug fixes and performance improvements. It is a broad update that touches nearly every system, with some changes clearly aimed at long-standing community concerns.

Enemy Balance

  • Increased durable damage across multiple Terminid units including Hunters, Warriors, and Bile Spewers
  • Adjusted Bile Titan explosion radius to better match visuals
  • Increased armor for Hive Guard front sections while reducing body durability
  • Improved damage output for Automatons including Raiders, Devastators, and Berserkers
  • Updated tank durability with increased health pools and armor values
  • Adjusted Illuminate enemy behavior and durability interactions

Weapons and Stratagems

  • Reduced stamina cost across multiple sidearms including Stun Baton, Saber, and Entrenchment Tool
  • Increased damage and durability damage for select melee weapons
  • Improved Defoliation Tool hit detection, armor penetration scaling, and stamina efficiency
  • Increased Ballistic Shield Backpack health from 600 to 1000
  • Increased Spear missile capacity from 3 to 4
  • Enhanced Flame Sentry range and damage output
  • Increased Laser Sentry heat capacity
  • Updated Sterilizer gas effects with longer duration and range

Gameplay Adjustments

  • Gas effects now slow enemies by 25% when confused
  • Terminids improved effectiveness against vehicles

Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released on February 8, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and Windows, and later launched on Xbox Series X S on August 26, 2025.
