Eclipse Glow Games has announced that Jennifer English will no longer voice Gwendolyn, the main protagonist in Tides of Annihilation, after stepping away from the role for personal health reasons.
In a statement shared on social media, the developer said English informed the team in June that she could not continue with the project. While she will no longer provide the character’s English voice, she will remain involved in an advisory role.
“We have some sad news to share, that Jennifer English will be stepping away from her role as the English voice of Gwendolyn, the main protagonist in Tides of Annihilation due to personal health reasons. She will continue to support the project in an advisory role.”
The studio added, “Earlier in June, Jennifer informed us that she would no longer be able to continue in the role. While we were, of course, saddened by her decision, we completely understood and respected Jennifer in prioritizing her well-being.”
According to Eclipse Glow Games, English played an active role in helping the team find her replacement. Working alongside other members of the voice cast, she recommended performers who could continue portraying Gwendolyn while remaining faithful to the character.
The developer confirmed that a new English voice actor has already been cast, although her identity has not yet been revealed. The studio said her recent work in video games impressed both English and the development team, praising her dedication to understanding the role.
The new actor is currently recording Gwendolyn’s dialogue for the game’s hands-on demo at gamescom 2026. Players will hear her performance for the first time when the demo becomes available this August, with additional previews set to be shared through the game’s official channels.
Tides of Annihilation is an upcoming single-player fantasy action-adventure game from Eclipse Glow Games. The title is in development for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date yet to be announced.
