A new rumour has fuelled speculation that Square Enix could share fresh details on Kingdom Hearts IV during this year’s D23 event, following the discovery of several guest profiles in the official D23 app.
According to the listings, Kingdom Hearts IV co-director Tai Yasue will appear alongside longtime series voice actors Haley Joel Osment, who voices Sora, and David Gallagher, the voice of Riku. Yasue’s profile specifically identifies him as the co-director of Kingdom Hearts IV.
While Disney has not announced that the panel will include new game announcements, the reported guest lineup has led fans to speculate that new Kingdom Hearts IV footage or information could be shown during the event.
Disney previously confirmed that “Deep Dive into KINGDOM HEARTS” will take place on August 15 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM PT as part of D23, which runs from August 14 to August 16. The presentation will celebrate 25 years of the franchise, looking back at its history and examining how the series brought together Disney, Pixar and Square Enix.
According to the official event description, the session will feature members of the creative team, character voice actors and others involved with the series.
At the time of writing, neither Disney nor Square Enix has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV will be shown during the panel. As such, any expectation of new gameplay footage or announcements should be treated as speculation until officially confirmed.
