Guerrilla and Studio Gobo’s upcoming action adventure game, LEGO Horizon Adventures, will feature a Fidelity and Performance mode on PS5.

During an interview with Tweakers.net, Guerrilla Games narrative director James Windeler revealed that LEGO Horizon Adventures will give players the option to choose between Performance mode and Fidelity mode on PS5. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, and will also support ray tracing features.

In Performance mode, LEGO Horizon Adventures can be played at 60 fps with reduced quality. In Fidelity mode, players will get better visuals, but the frame rate will be capped at 30 fps. It was also mentioned that the demo build that was played by the press was running in Fidelity mode.

The narrative director mentioned that the development team’s goal with the visuals was to make the game look like a playable LEGO movie, which is why the entire world is built from pieces of LEGO. Character movement is also fashioned to imitate stop-motion to simulate playing with real world LEGO figures.

Furthermore, content creator Jorraptor, who also had the opportunity to demo LEGO Horizon Adventures, took to Twitter/X to share a bunch of other details regarding the game. He mentioned the upcoming LEGO themed title will not support crossplay for its online co-op mode. That said, a couch co-op mode has been confirmed.

LEGO Horizon Adventures is said to be a light-hearted retelling of Horizon Zero Dawn’s story, with big changes and the usual LEGO humor. The game will offer customization options that will allow players to swap out Aloy’s outfit with other familiar costumes, such as Sun King Avad’s outfit, that series fans are bound to recognize and appreciate. The game appears to feature 4 playable characters, though only Varl has been confirmed by the development team thus far. It is mentioned that these characters largely behave the same in terms of gameplay.
