Location Of New Assassin’s Creed Game May Have Been Revealed

Update: Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier took to Reddit to offer his thoughts regarding the new Assassin’s Creed, and share what he has heard about the game. According to him, the next entry in the series is called Assassin’s Creed Rift, and is set in the city of Baghdad.

According to what Schreier has heard, the Assassin’s Creed game to be released after Rift is Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which will include a number of different games/experiences/biomes. These are the only two main titles in the series that he’s heard about, and, based on his sources, neither of them are set in the Aztecs.

Original Story: The location of the new game in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series may have been revealed, based on a new rumor. Not a whole lot is known about the next game at this point, as the publisher has yet to share any concrete information.

According to Youtuber ACG, the new Assassin’s Creed game that is currently in development will be set in the Aztecs. He has had a decent track record with Ubisoft games in the past, as was also the one to reveal early details regarding Far Cry Primal.

For the uninitiated, The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican culture that flourished in central Mexico in the post-classic period from 1300 to 1521. The Aztec peoples encompassed a variety of central Mexican ethnic groups, especially those that spoke Nahuatl and ruled a sizable portion of Mesoamerica from the 14th to the 16th century.

The city-states that made up Aztec civilization occasionally banded together to create alliances, political confederations, or empires. Tenochtitlan, a city-state of the Mexica, formed the confederation known as the Aztec Empire in 1427. Although the word “Aztecs” is frequently used to refer solely to the Mexica of Tenochtitlan, it is also frequently used to refer to Nahua polities or peoples who lived in central Mexico before the arrival of the Spanish. It’s possible that the new Assassin’s Creed game will focus on this particular time period, with the open world covering a majority of the regions of central Mexico.

The latest available game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, is a 2020 action role-playing game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the series’ twelfth main entry and the follow-up to 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The game tells a fictitious tale set between the years 872–878 AD, during the Viking incursions into the British Isles.

Players assume control of Eivor Varinsdottir, a Viking raider who finds herself caught up in a centuries-old struggle between the Assassin Brotherhood, which fights for peace and liberty, and the Templar Order, which seeks peace through control, while seeking to found a new Viking clan in England. The modern-day section of the game takes place in the 21st century and focuses on Layla Hassan, an assassin who relives Eivor’s memories in order to uncover a way to prevent the destruction of Earth.
