The announcement of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection happened today during the PlayStation Showcase event. The Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
In an official message, the development team for both MGS Delta: Snake Eater and MGS: Master Collection thanked fans for their continued support. The unnamed studio is currently collaborating to create an immersive environment for fans to enjoy the Metal Gear series on modern platforms.
The development team is excited to be working on the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, a beloved chapter in the Metal Gear series. Titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, this remake will delve into the origin story of Snake. The developer’s goal is to faithfully recreate the original narrative and game design while enhancing the gameplay with modern visuals and a seamless user experience.
In addition, the team is also working on the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, a comprehensive compilation that commemorates the series’ 35th anniversary. This collection will give fans the opportunity to experience the games exactly as they were when first released, optimized for the latest platforms.
The Master Collection is currently slated for an Autumn 2023 release, while the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake has yet to be given a release window, as it is likely early in development.
The PlayStation Store page for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection states that it is the first volume in a saga of collections. It’s likely that Konami is planning to work on a second volume that possibly features Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
