Microsoft Rolls Out Xbox Update to Address Forza Horizon 6 Save Loss Issues

by Ali Haider

Microsoft has started rolling out a platform update for Xbox Series X/S designed to address save loss issues affecting some Forza Horizon 6 players, according to an update from the Forza Support Team.

The Xbox team has begun deploying the system update, though only a portion of users may receive it automatically at first. Players are being encouraged to manually download the update through Xbox’s support instructions to receive the fix as soon as possible.

Prior to the console update, Microsoft confirmed that fixes had already been released for PC users through the Gaming Services client. Players on Windows PC, including those using Steam, are advised to ensure Gaming Services is updated to version 37.114.10001.0 or later.

The issue under investigation can result in game progress being lost or reset. Players who have already encountered the problem are being urged to contact Forza Support immediately. The company says support staff may be able to recover affected profiles by restoring progress from an earlier save state, though users are advised to submit reports as soon as the issue occurs to maximize recovery chances.

Forza Support has also recommended several precautionary measures to reduce the risk of future save-related problems. These include keeping Gaming Services and console software updated, avoiding force-closing the game during save operations, remaining online when exiting the game, and allowing sufficient time for cloud synchronization before shutting down a device.

Xbox Series X/S users are additionally being advised to disable Quick Resume for Forza Horizon 6. According to the support notice, doing so may help prevent progress synchronization issues until the fixes have been fully deployed.

Players who frequently switch between multiple devices, such as different consoles, PCs, Steam, or cloud gaming services, have been told to take extra care when ending sessions. Microsoft recommends properly exiting the game and waiting for cloud save synchronization to complete before powering down hardware or closing applications.

Forza Horizon 6 launched on May 19, 2026, for Windows PC and Xbox Series X/S. Developed by Playground Games, the open-world racing title takes players across a fictionalized version of Japan featuring the largest map in the series’ history. A PlayStation 5 version is also planned for release later this year.

Microsoft says it is continuing to work with the Forza team on additional platform improvements and will provide further updates as the situation develops.
