Microsoft is reportedly working with Capcom in order to fix issues related to the latter’s MT Framework on Xbox consoles.
During the latest episode of The Xbox Two podcast, co-host Jez Corden talked about the fighting game community and how passionate it is. He mentioned that Microsoft basically just let it all go, starting with Street Fighter 5. He then brought up the ongoing issues with the MT Framework used for Capcom games on Xbox consoles. Based on what he has been told, this has led to the publisher just skipping the platform in several cases due to technology-related reasons.
However, Corden has also been told that Microsoft is actively working alongside Capcom to fix the aforementioned MT Framework issues. He believes Microsoft has identified that not having Capcom’s back catalog present on Xbox as a result of a technological reason is not a great look for the platform, and that it is now looking to to work through it and figure it out.
Corden brought up Monster Hunter Stories as one of the games that skipped an Xbox release due to the same technological issues he talked about. Perhaps Capcom will eventually port its back catalog to Xbox through this collaboration, especially since it can add further value to Xbox Game Pass. Only time will tell whether this will be the case, however.
Another Capcom title that did not find its way to Xbox consoles is Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. Around two years ago, Twitter user and Mega Man enthusiast Protodude had reached out to Capcom regarding the matter. In response, the publisher had stated that it could not comment on “business decisions”. The company continued to maintain this stance last year, as it had sent out an official survey for feedback with no attempt at gauging interest in an Xbox port.
