Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, bringing visual enhancements, an updated Super Mario Mash-Up Pack and an upgrade path for existing Nintendo Switch players.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will feature Vibrant Visuals as its default graphical mode, introducing improved lighting, enhanced shadow effects and other visual upgrades. Players will also be able to experience supported Minecraft Marketplace content with the new visual enhancements enabled.

Nintendo-exclusive content is also getting an update for the new hardware. The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack has been enhanced to take advantage of Vibrant Visuals, offering improved visuals for its Mario-themed world, character skins and soundtrack.

The pack remains exclusive to Nintendo platforms and lets players explore familiar locations inspired by the Super Mario series, including Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza, recreated within Minecraft’s block-based world.

Mojang also confirmed that players who already own Minecraft on the original Nintendo Switch will have access to a digital upgrade path for the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Additional details on how the upgrade will work will be announced at a later date.
