Capcom has unveiled Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a large-scale expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, during Summer Game Fest 2026. The expansion is scheduled to launch worldwide in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The announcement was accompanied by a debut trailer that offered a first look at several of the expansion’s key additions, including new and returning monsters, expanded gameplay mechanics, and an entirely new region for hunters to explore. Building upon the events of the base game, Ascendance continues the story of the Forbidden Lands and takes players to a previously unseen setting high above the clouds.
According to Capcom, the expansion introduces a collection of floating islands that serve as the primary new locale. Hunters will venture across these aerial environments while taking advantage of new combat abilities designed to expand movement and hunting strategies. The publisher says these additions are intended to further evolve the gameplay experience and provide fresh challenges throughout the adventure.
The danger level is also set to increase significantly with the return of Elder Dragons. Longtime fans can expect some of the series’ most formidable creatures to make their presence felt as they explore the skies. In addition, Ascendance will introduce Master Rank content, bringing tougher encounters, stronger monsters, and new progression opportunities for experienced hunters seeking a greater challenge.
While Capcom has yet to reveal the full roster of monsters, equipment, and gameplay features included in the expansion, the reveal trailer suggests that Ascendance will be one of the most substantial additions to Monster Hunter Wilds since the game’s launch.
Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Capcom noted that the base game is currently available at a discount of up to 58% off, giving newcomers an opportunity to begin their journey before the expansion arrives.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is set to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. More details on the expansion’s monsters, gameplay systems, and story content are expected to be shared closer to release.
