Resident Evil Veronica Remake Announced for 2027

by Greg Martin

Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the fan-favorite survival horror title Resident Evil Code: Veronica. The game was unveiled during Summer Game Fest 2026 and is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

The reveal marks the return of Claire Redfield as the central protagonist, bringing one of the series’ most beloved stories back for a new generation of players. While Capcom has yet to share extensive gameplay details, the announcement trailer offered a first glimpse at the reimagined experience and confirmed that the classic adventure is being rebuilt with modern technology.

Set on the remote and dangerous Rockfort Island, Resident Evil Veronica follows Claire as she attempts to survive a nightmare overrun by zombies and other horrors. The remake promises to revisit the events of the original game while delivering a more immersive and realistic take on its environments, characters, and terrifying encounters.

Like recent entries and remakes in the franchise, Resident Evil Veronica is being developed using Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE. The technology has powered several of the publisher’s most successful Resident Evil releases in recent years and will be used to bring the game’s atmosphere, creatures, and environments to life with a heightened level of visual fidelity.

Capcom says the remake will feature modernized gameplay systems while preserving the survival horror foundations that made the original title a fan favorite. According to the publisher, players can expect a tense escape story filled with horror, suspense, and psychological intensity as they navigate the island’s dangers.

Beyond confirming the game’s platforms and 2027 release window, Capcom did not provide additional details regarding gameplay features, story changes, or specific launch timing. The company stated that more information on Resident Evil Veronica will be shared in the coming months.

Resident Evil Veronica is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, with a release planned for 2027.
