Capcom has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Monster Hunter Wilds, stating that it intends to continue supporting the game with the goal of eventually surpassing the lifetime sales of Monster Hunter: World.
The update comes from the Q&A summary accompanying Capcom’s first-quarter FY2026 financial results. Responding to a question about the game’s commercial performance, the company said ongoing technical improvements have already contributed to stronger sales.
“Ongoing enhancements to the technical performance of Monster Hunter Wilds have led to sales for the game improving. We have also seen a response to the announcement of the upcoming massive expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, and related pricing measures,” Capcom said.
The publisher added that it has no plans to slow support for the title, stating, “We plan to continue improving the game’s technical performance as we aim to drive its total unit sales beyond those of Monster Hunter: World over the medium to long term.”
Monster Hunter Wilds launched in February 2025 and became Capcom’s fastest-selling game, reaching more than 8 million copies sold within its first three days. As of mid-2026, the game has surpassed 10.7 million units sold worldwide.
Monster Hunter: World remains Capcom’s best-selling title, with more than 30 million copies shipped worldwide as of 2026. Its Iceborne expansion has also exceeded 15 million units, while Monster Hunter Rise has sold 18.6 million copies and its Sunbreak expansion has reached 10.4 million.
Capcom’s latest comments indicate the company sees Monster Hunter Wilds as a long-term platform, with continued technical updates, the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion and ongoing support forming part of its strategy to extend the game’s commercial lifespan.
