by Ali Haider

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire Patch 1.2.2 is now available for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version arriving in the coming weeks. The update focuses on improving gameplay, progression, stability, controls, UI, and localisation through a wide range of fixes.

Among the biggest changes are fixes for progression blockers, Robo-Betty’s pathfinding, collectible display shelf updates during Level Revisits, and several crashes related to the lockpicking minigame. Players should notice a smoother experience across supported platforms.

Patch Notes

Gameplay and Progression

  • Fixed cases where side quests could not be completed when revisiting River Fever Line because NPC dialogue continued but quest progress did not register.
  • Fixed a progression issue that prevented interaction with certain pipes after speaking with the Old Shrew NPC in The Depths.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to jump over a fence and freely explore while the camera remained active in Clergy Row.
  • Fixed a Robo-Betty pathfinding bug that caused the boss to become permanently stuck in a running loop, allowing players to skip the third encounter.
  • Fixed issues where the collectible display shelf in Jack Pepper’s office failed to update correctly after collecting items during Level Revisits.
  • Fixed a blocker where rapidly accepting newspaper popups could close the shop window and lock players out of the UI, requiring a game restart.

UI and Menus

  • Fixed incorrect placement of the Exit Level and Exit Game options in the pause menu.
  • Fixed cases where the Exit Level option could not be selected from the pause menu.

Controls and Input

  • Improved key rebinding across all platforms and input methods.
  • All actions can now be rebound except the Use action on controllers, which shares the same input as Reload and cannot be remapped because of hardware limitations.

Nintendo Switch 2

UI and Menus

  • Fixed an issue where labels on the Motion Sensitivity screen were cut off.

Stability and Crashes

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when picking up the Letter to the Dame in MANGIA and MANGIA Secret Show.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when repeatedly entering and exiting the lockpicking minigame on safes and locked doors.

Controls and Input

  • Fixed an issue where Joy-Con haptics did not activate when controllers were physically connected in handheld or docked mode.
  • Fixed an issue where mouse sensitivity adjustments did not work correctly when using Mouse Mode.
